James Morse - Saxophone / Vocals

Returning from musical retirement in 1988, James first began playing with Motown producer Jack Burningtree, in the Burningtree Band. Later he moved on to connect with a succession of bands including the Paul Marvin Blues Band, the Val Ventro Band, Power Train, the Soul Mechanix, and ultimately, joined the bugs Beddow band.

James has mastered the soprano, alto and tenor saxophones, making him known as the band's tri-saxual. His versatility draws from a variety of styles: blues, funk, soul and jazz. His solos bring energy and emotion to his audience, invariably capturing the essence of the music being performed. Ever moving, James dances and plays percussion when not blowing his own horns. And by employing the latest technology, James creates horn section backgrounds that consistently fatten up the sounds.

He's assembled quite a number of recordings to date, including "Music To Lose Your Clothes By", recorded with Robert Thibodeau and the Stone Crickets; "Give Me The Heat", with Gary Foster and 2XL and again with the group Temper; "Jazoddity", with In The Mix; and the hugely popular "'Bone Appetit Tour: Live at the 1997 Mid-Michigan Blues Festival", with the bugs Beddow band.

As an additional channel for his creative energy, James developed a recording studio in West Bloomfield called Paradise Productions. There he assembles horn tracks ranging from solos to full sections, and creates recordings depicting that unique texture that only live horns can produce.
