I was living in Franklin Village, Michigan and was in 10th grade when Al Kaline and the Detroit Tigers won the 1968 World Series. Mr. Kaline also lived in Franklin. The Village had a parade down Franklin Rd with Al Kaline in a convertible followed by our one and only Fire Truck from our volunteer fire department. All of us kids decked out our bikes with baseball cards in the spokes and mad a big racket. Franklin threw a party for Al and the whole town showed up! What a blast!

In 2008, my son Joseph was getting a tour of Orchard Lake St. Mary's, as he prepared for his High School training there. His tour guide was a senior with the last name of Kaline - it was Al's grandson!
